Shiloh Pepin is a girl with Mermaid Syndrome or sirenomelia. Shiloh Pepin, one of only three survivors of sirenomelia, or Mermaid syndrome, worldwide.
Shiloh Pepin has been featured in a recent documentary entitled "Mermaid Girl".
Shiloh’s mother, Leslie Pepin, said the hour-long documentary followed Shiloh in her home of Kennebunkport in 2007.
Mermaid syndrome (Sirenomelia) is a condition where a fetus lower body doesn’t develop correctly, resulting in a fusion of the lower limbs. It's a fatal condition where most fail to survive hours after birth because the condition is accompanied by other abnormalities, including kidney, colon and genital deformities.
But Shiloh, the little Mermaid Girl survived and she's doing great after a kidney transplant in 2007.
