The 2010 SAG Awards is scheduled on January 23, 2010. Just a week after the Golden Globe Awards 2010 Winners are announced and the Oscar nomination due out next week, this weeks SAG Awards results are eagerly watched. The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be held live at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, California.
It has been known to many, specially for Oscar Academy Award watchers, that the SAG Award winners are considered a forerunner of Oscar acting win. Many previous Screen Actors Guild (SAG) winners usually gone on to take the most coveted prize of them all. However, A SAG win is not by any means a guarantee of an Oscar.
Who will be this year's 16th SAG Awards winners?
The titles that are making the biggest splash this time around are Precious, Up in the Air, and Inglourious Basterds. Each of those films received three nods each. 30 Rock, Dexter, and The Closer, on the other hand, have three nominations each for television series.
The one that may end up the most interesting is the SAG awards major prize — Outstanding Performance by a Cast award — With Avatar not in the running for the evening's major prize. The four films contending for that category are, The Hurt Locker, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, Nine, and Precious.
2010 SAG Awards presenters will include Alec Baldwin, George Clooney, Jane Lynch, Michelle Monaghan, Chris O’Donnell, Anna Paquin, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tuccy. Betty White will be honored with the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to acting.
